QNETCity has done it again – they’ve won the Carabao Cup 2020! Manchester City Football Club emerged victorious in the much-anticipated Carabao Cup match against Aston Villa on 1 March at Wembley Stadium, with roaring cheers from the crowd as we witnessed Sergio Aguero and Rodri score their goals. As Manchester City’s Official Direct Selling Partner, all of us at QNET could not be more proud.
In case you needed more reasons to celebrate, here are some fun facts to get you even more proud of our team:
1. Carabao Cup Records
Man City, having won the Carabao Cup four times in the last six years, were also the 2019 winners. This 2-1 victory against Villa marks the fifth win for our Blues, who defeated Chelsea on penalties last season. We’d made it through to Carabao Cup 2020 for a third consecutive season, following a 3-2 aggregate win over Manchester United.
In total, Man City has now lifted the Carabao Cup trophy seven times – the second-most in football history!
2. The Pep Talk Pays Off
Pep Guardiola and winning trophies go hand in hand, but our City’s manager has had a particularly impressive record in this competition. This is his fourth season at the Etihad Stadium and, in that time, he has reached the Carabao Cup final on three occasions. With Guardiola at the helm, Man City have won 17 out of 19 games (including penalty shootouts), scoring 39 goals and conceding just 10.
3. Wembley Stadium Record
Since their first appearance at the new Wembley back in 2011, Man City have now tasted victory on 11 occasions – five of those being the Carabao Cup!
4. QNET Support All the Way
In attendance at this glorious occasion were our QNET Founders, Dato Sri Vijay Eswaran and Joseph Bismark, as well as our beloved Pathman ‘Chief’ Senathirajah, and QI Group Director of International Operations JR Mayer! We’ve been with the team every step of the way and now celebrate with them as they lift their seventh League cup.
In an elated state, our esteemed QI Group Director of International Operations JR Mayer said, “This is our victory as much as it is Manchester City’s, because this is our team. Time and time again, they prove themselves worthy of lifting the Carabao Cup and outperform their rivals with integrity. We could not be prouder of them, we could not be happier to be here celebrating with them, and we look forward to more victories in our future together!”
QNET will be collaborating with Man City across cup final content, games and other social media activities, bringing fans closer to the action through the Club’s digital platforms.
