Building 21st Century Business Leaders using Digital Platforms was the topic of discussion during the one-day Business Symposium organised by Quest International University Perak (QIUP) on 10 January 2016. The forum was officiated by Dato’ Seri Haji Ahmad Husni Bin Mohamad Hanadzlah, Finance Minister II and the stage was set by an awe-inspiring and unforgettable keynote address by our very own Dato’ Sri Dr Vijay Eswaran.
In his speech, Dato’ Sri Dr Vijay Eswaran stressed the need and ability to communicate, innovate, and be a strong role model as part of the traits a 21st century business leader needs in order to succeed. “Fundamental in the arena of business is communication. If you cannot communicate, people will not buy what you sell”, he noted. He also called on the students to master English which he stressed is the language of business.
The ever charismatic and motivational Pathman ‘Chief’ Senathirajah made a thought-provoking speech on breaching the techno-savvy dichotomy across Gen X, Y, Z and connecting the 3 generations in marketing. His take home message was – ‘The future of marketing is emotional marketing.”
Also adding to the forum were notable speakers Lead Trainer and Entrepreneur Mallory Loone, Award-Winning Entrepreneur Michael Teoh Su Lim, Elementary Statistics Instructor Alvin Teh Tai Yean and Human Resource Director Dr Siva Sitrembalan. The day-long symposium also provided opportunities for the students to interact with them through a very lively and informative question and answer session.
This Business Symposium was themed – Marketing in Global Perspective: Yesterday’s Dream, Today’s Reality, Tomorrow’s Icon and was attended by around 200 business students from Universities from all over Perak. It helped showcase how digital marketing will bridge the gap of different generations and enable companies to conduct business activities via digital platforms. It was organised by the final year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) undergraduates of QIUP as part of their final project.
